Contact-Free Storage Rental Procedures in Light of COVID-19

At Access Self Storage, we have been following new developments surrounding COVID-19 and making adjustments to our everyday operations accordingly. Self storage is deemed an essential business—as it provides services to many commercial customers who also provide essential products and services to the public. Thus, all of our storage locations are still currently in operation.

Company News

Throughout these uncertain and anxious circumstances, however, we know the last thing you want to worry about is your safety while you’re out running essential errands (such as accessing or moving into your storage unit). In order to continue serving you, we are taking careful precautions around our storage facilities to help maintain a healthy environment and shorten the amount of time our employees and tenants are in contact. These measures include:

  • Enhancing our cleaning procedures.
  • Sanitizing our stores multiple times a day.
  • Modifying office hours and tenant access hours.
  • Utilizing technology more than ever.

Online, Contact-Free Self Storage Rentals

Fortunately, our online storage rental technology allows a contact-free process and saves you time in the long run. Instead of spending 15 minutes in the office, you can spend five minutes clicking through the process online: Simply find a facility near you, select the unit you need, then sign your lease digitally to start storing. You may submit your proof of ID via email or text and receive your access code via email or phone. Once your rental is confirmed, your lock and key will be waiting for you in your storage unit.

Protecting Yourself and Others amid the Coronavirus

We urge everyone to continue following the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC’s) guidance for protecting yourself and preventing the spread of the virus in addition to any specific orders issued by the state of New Jersey or New York. Mainly, this includes orders to stay at home and practice social distancing.

We also encourage you to practice proactive and mindful hygiene during this time, particularly before and after you visit a public place or one of our facilities. The virus can be viable in the air for up three hours, on copper for up to four hours, on cardboard for up to 24 hours, and on plastic or stainless steel for up to 72 hours. Some preventative tips include:

  • Avoiding touching your face (especially eyes, nose, and mouth).
  • Washing your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Using hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
  • Wearing a face mask or covering in public, if possible.
  • Sneezing and coughing into your elbow or a tissue.
  • Standing at least 6 feet apart from others to practice social distancing.

Access Has Your Health in Mind with Contactless Storage

Keeping our storage properties clean and sanitized—and looking out for our customers and team members—is our priority at Access Self Storage. If you are a tenant who’s currently storing with us, we encourage you to pay your rent online. If you’re looking to unlock your storage unit today, you can reserve or rent online using our convenient rental system. Still have questions or concerns?
